Colophon

This is a static site generated with Eleventy, written by hand in Markdown and a little Nunjucks, and served from GitHub Pages. There is no client-side framework and no analytics. Every page is readable with JavaScript turned off, because there is no JavaScript.

The type is Newsreader, an open-source serif drawn for reading on screens, self-hosted as a subset so nothing is requested from a third party. Body text is set around a 65-character measure with generous leading. The single accent — a muted petrol green — marks links and little else. The palette is near-black on warm paper.

Sidenotes, where they appear, float into the margin on wide screens and fold back into the text on narrow ones, without script.

The "last updated" date on the now page is read from the page's last Git commit when the site is built, so its currency is provably real rather than asserted.

Source is on GitHub.
